곤충다양성실험실
딱정벌레(Beetle)들은 현재 40만여 종이 기록되어 지구 전체 동물의 약 30%를 차지하는 종다양성이 가장 높은 동물 분류군이다. 이들은 전 세계 거의 모든 서식처에서 가장 다양한 생물학적 구성원이며 매우 중요한 생태학적 요인이다. 딱정벌레목(Coleoptera)은 생물의 진화역사 속에서 매우 다양한 적응방사 현상을 보여준다. 본 실험실은 한반도 딱정벌레다양성 연구를 기본으로; 분류체계(Classification System) 구축을 위한 계통분석(Phylogenetic Analysis) 연구; 계통수(Phylogeny)를 근간으로 미소서식처(Microhabitat) 진화, 형질진화(Character Evolution) 및 생물지리(Biogeography) 연구; 인벤토리(Inventory) 및 종목록(Checklist) 작성; 델타(DELTA)를 이용한 검색시스템(Identification System) 개발 등의 연구를 수행하고 있으며; 궁극적으로는 한국산 딱정벌레 무리의 General Reference System을 완성하는 것이 목표이다.
